So like the title says , after reading much confusing and sometimes contradicting posts , articles , and stories I decided to try Bitcoin. Servertech really seems to know his stuff and he suggested coinbase in some posts awhile back. So here I go. Got an account ...Verified email, phone number , joined to checking account ,about to verify identity with photo Id (necessary if you wanna use more than 50 bucks a week) Then it dawns on me...this is my real info...how is this safer again?? I am not criminally inclined I freely admit. Am I doing this wrong or is it anonymous after a few wallet transfers? What am I missing here, am I on the right track? I am trying to get lined out for the 4th of July sale at Private label.Any input will be greatly appreciated .

it is because its harder to trace back, you can also transfer to different wallets use a tumbler etc.
bitcoin is a ledger based system however.
monero and others are coming up as they are more secure but not as well known.
you can even mine monero for free with an easy to use program on computers or phones, tablets etc but dont expect much from a normal computer

It's definitely safer and harder to trace. Always move your bc to a wallet from coinbase. Also, if you're into it, you can easily make a hundred dollars a day trading it once you know the trends. I was anti bc until I looked into what it is and I actually love it now. This happened in the last 5 months. Just get into it, you'll see.

Thanks Rock. I am sure once I get my id verified through coinbase it will be much easier. I have been having issues with that step. I still use a flip phone lol , tech is so not natural to me. Thanks for the input guys. I will keep hacking away even if I miss the sale deadline.

I suggest you contact the vendor as they probably will work with you.

@Ross where you live, google bitcoin ATM, I promise you'll have one. Go there with cash and buy a significant amount over what you need as the value tends to fluctuate. Before you do that, you need an app on a smart phone or a laptop called bread wallet or something like that. There are many bitcoin wallets. Once you set up your wallet, then go to the ATM, the ATM scans your phone, then, voila, the bitcoin is in your wallet ready to spend

    Definitely get some
@Ross eithh all these companies taking it and giving you discounts for using it, Amazon for example, means they are banking on the idea the value will climb. Good luck.

Need any forthwr advice hit me up.
First step google bitcoin wallet for your computer, step 2, google bitcoin ATM in my area, step 3 copy that qr I think it's called or your wallet address if you can't bring it with you. Or use your coinbase wallet provided, however, you must move funds from coinbase to a wallet to be able to purchase from vendors here

Hey guys , thanks for all the great feedback. Rock , you are right about the Bitcoin atms in my area. The snag I keep hitting is my own fault. I still use a flip phone lol. Smart phones etc...are seeming to be essential for this stuff. I may need to suck it up and evolve but I am also trying to avoid it (and the cost of it).
And thanks for the advice help offer Rock , I may need to take you up on that.

I just wanted to make a quick update to this thread . I went ahead and ordered a new smart phone and got an appropriate phone plan. It took a few days but was much easier on the wallet than I expected. After that getting straight with coinbase and ID verification was a snap. I would like to thank Servertech for all the guidance , and also Therocksays for the solid advice. Thanks for helping me get sorted out guys. -Ross
